I just found this today. It's a broadway show in Vegas done with puppets. It's called Avenue Q. Sort of an adult Sesame Street.
From what I've read it's a really moving story about the ups and downs of life. They say it's good because of how real it is. One thing you have to keep in mind about theatre is that it's a LOT different from movies and television. When you go to a theatre for a show, the performers assume that you can handle a little controversy.....even if it is nude puppets and songs about racism and internet pornography. The puppeteers are onstage acting with the puppets, although they really are only there to move the puppets. It gives the show a better feel since the puppets are more free to move with the puppeteers.
The story is about two particular people, Kate Monster, and Rob.
Rob is a staunch Republican....and a closet homosexual. He gets a new roommate who...er....coaxes him out of his shell to accept himself for who he really is.
Kate is representative of most girls her age (around 18). She is without a boyfriend and is lonely, thinking that "it sucks to be me." So, when Princeton, a guy she likes, asks her on a date (they end up having sex, and sing a song while doing it), she is walking on sunshine. Things change, however, and she has to deal with Princeton leaving her for a "slut", and has to learn the hard way what the internet is really used for.
The show looks really interesting. If anyone knows where we could get this, like on an internet video, that'd be great.
I did find some video clips from the show regarding the two main groups to give you a feel for what it's like. (Requires RealPlayer.)
