LimeWire? What's that? I've never heard of it before, is it some kinda new software?

Nah, it's a downloading program (a bit like Kazaa). You type in the name of the song/software/document/whatever and it searches through other people who are connected to the network. You download from other people who have the file. It's called P2P sharing, and it's technically not exactly legal.

Ah, I see. Well thats ok its not like anyone is going to say anything to you about it or anything. Anyways I really appriciate the song.

Ok, now I have a question concerning Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes. Ok how do I get that card key thing to change shapes so I can put them in the computers?

It's kinda annoying, but shouldn't take too long. For the blue form, go back to the room where you fought Vulcan Raven and...sit. Just sit for a while. It'll eventually turn blue when you look at it in your inventory.

For the red, do the same thing in the blast furnace.

Or, there's a small platform off to the side in the room where the Metal Gear is being stored (you have to be up on one of the higher platforms). Drop down on it and there's some pipes there you can shoot which almost instantly turn the card to different shapes.

Sorry to steal your flare Snake, but there's something I'd like to add.

Granted, I've never done the whole "shoot the pipes" scenario, I would suggest going through and siiting in the chambers to cool and heat the key since it's your first time through, Jena. There are some very important Codec transmissions that you need to hear, and I'm not sure if they'll play if you use the pipes. They may, but I wouldn't leave anything to chance your first time through. Plus, you can use all the experience you can get. (Don't forget to take out those cameras before you enter the key room!)

So, anyways, I'll ask a question, then.

At the end of MGS3, Naked Snake defeats The Boss and is awarded with the title "Big Boss." He also takes control of his FOX unit and changes it to FOXHOUND. Somehow, he gets Ocelot (his former enemy) and Sniper Wolf to join him. I'm not sure about the other enemies in the original MGS. For now, we'll just assume that Liquid took control of FOXHOUND and got Mantis, Octopus and Raven to join later.

But back to the question: Why does Solid Snake have to kill Big Boss? I mean, I know Big Boss was making a Metal Gear, no doubt inspired by that drunk Russian guy....you know....the one who gives you the key to the mountains. You have to dress up as a scientist to get to him? Well, you know.

The question is "why?" Why does Big Boss make that Metal Gear? Was it power he wanted? Or maybe it was just another damn American conspiracy, like the story with The Boss and her defection and death.

What do you think?

Technically, BB didn't take control of FOX. Major Zero disbands FOX a short time after Operation: Snake Eater. BB later on establishes FOXHOUND from his experience with FOX.

Onto the question. BB forms 'Outer Heaven', a land where soldiers will always have a place in the world. This idea threatens the world that we're used to, so Solid Snake is deployed (he's a rookie to FOXHOUND, but he's had experience with combat in the Green Berets).

From what I've gathered, the original 'Metal Gear' shown at Outer Heaven was there for protection. It was supposed to be the ultimate military weapon, but Snake defeats it in the MSX version (in the NES, you never fight it).

Big Boss wants to establish Outer Heaven, which threatens the normal flow of things, basically. Outer Heaven gives soldiers a place to fight for an eternity...shown in the trailer of MGS4, as 'proxy battles'. Mercenaries duke it out for no reason whatsoever. It's all political.

So...what? Big Boss's Outer Heaven is like a foster home for soldiers or something like that?

Like some kind of fun park soldiers go to when they feel like fighting battles?

Not exactly.

The Boss was used by the government to complete a mission. When that mission got screwed up and global politics got involved, they needed her to die to clear the name of the US. Therefore, they sent Naked Snake, 'her most beloved disciple', to deal with her.

This got to him. After EVA explains it all to him in the end, he starts to harbor anger against the government. To them, soldiers are nothing but pawns used for their own needs, no matter what their history is (in the Boss's case, a hero to the US).

Big Boss didn't want this. He wanted to create a place where soldiers would be needed forever and appriciated for what they do. He wanted Outer Heaven to be a place where soldiers were necessary - a place where they wouldn't be forgotten.

Look at it this way. The Boss was a hero to her country. However, since everything was secret about the mission, she was put in the history books as a traitor. In Outer Heaven, soldiers wouldn't fight for secret objectives: they would fight because...well, that's what they do. No hostility, just neccessity. Big Boss wants soldiers to remember each other for their skills.

Like the Boss said herself, "I'll kill you, or you'll kill me. No hostility, just the outcome."

Or something along those lines.

Yes, yes, I understand the whole "professionals on opposite sides" thing, but what kind of "secret objectives" in Outer Heaven are we talking about here?

I mean, was Outer Heaven supposed to be a utopia for soldiers? If so, why would you make a perfect place for someone if you needed soldiers?

Did they MAKE situations for soldiers to fight in or something?

Well, see, that's the thing about Outer Heaven. Watch the MGS4 trailer again.

Mercenaries are hired to participate in 'proxy battles'. Basically, the battlefield is under control the whole time...it's mercenaries (people who are paid and WANT to participate) who do the fighting.

The battle makes soldiers necessary, but it's controlled. You won't forget about the soldiers because the battles take place CONSTANTLY.

A PMC (Private Military Corporation) 'contracts' a battle against another PMC, I believe. Outer Heaven, the mother corporation, oversees the battle and effectively becomes a moderator. They keep it in check.

The battles are controlled ultimately by Outer Heaven, and the people who fight are mercenary soldiers who WANT to fight. So yes, they make battles for them.

Any idea what this "onus" thing is?

Translated, it means "The burden is ours", which I'm assuming means "The burden of destroying Liquid Ocelot and Outer Heaven is ours."

Actually, P2P insn't illegal at all. The problem with it is that people share illegal material. Such as songs, movies, software, etc. P2P was originally made as a new way for people to share their works that they have created or just information in general. Unfortunately, when they came up with the idea. They didn't take into consideration that you can share anything or they may have just thought people had more morals than that. Well, they were wrong. Using P2P file sharing to download illegal material is VERY risky. The RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) is suing a lot ov people who are downloading files illegally. So, it is in your best interest not to download via P2P. I quit P2P when they started suing people. I don't wanna go to jail for a song that would cost me oh.....$20 on cd.

Well, yeah, but I'm going from a non-technical perspective.

Do you EVER download things from a P2P service that you have, or that are free? No, you download music, software, etc. Therefore, for most standard purposes, P2P programs offer a ways to illegally grab stuff.

P2P itself is legal, it's the sharing of copywrited material over the P2P network that's illegal (I should know, I did a full report on the legality of P2P networks and file sharing).

And yes, P2P is risky. In the past three months, I've got maybe 5 or 6 songs over Limewire. And considering they're German rock and older stuff, the likelihood that the RIAA is gonna get all fussy over that is a lot lower.

It's still a risk, yes, but just go about it VERY carefully if you feel that you have to do it.

Hey, Snake. Seeing as how you helped Jena get something she was looking for earlier, maybe you can help me get something.

I need to get ahold of an animated GIF maker that doesn't leave the maker's logo on it, like the free ones do. I know better than to ask a certain head adminstrator here who will remain nameless since he'd rather have it all to himself so we'll feel that we have to depend on him more and not give me anything other than a "Sooooomewhere" when I ask him where he got it.

Any help would be appreciated tremendously.

Oh, ok. I get it now. Thanks Snake.

Do you think that the game companies will ever make another MGS game on GC besides Twin Snakes?   Actually I should say the rerelease with a few added things of Twin Snakes shouldn't I, or was the one it mainly modled after called something different?

Could've asked me this one, Jena. And for the record, the original MGS was really crappy gameplay-wise compared to MGS2 and 3. You knew that. They just remade it so the original would look good compared to the new ones, and of course, to let Gamecube-only players know what they're missing.

Anyways, I'll let Snake answer the question, although I'm sure you already know the answer.

The Twin Snakes was a remake of Metal Gear Solid (from the original Playstation), with added features from MGS2 (leaning out from corners, first person view, etc).

And no, there will never be another Metal Gear Solid game on Gamecube. TTS was made because of a meeting that the game creator had with Shigeru Miyamoto of Nintendo, and all new MGS games are coming out for Playstation.

However, on the new Nintendo Wii, Solid Snake will be a character in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. That's about the closest Nintendo is getting to another MGS game.

Dude, I told you where I got it. It's not my fault you wont download it yourself. Don't go blaming me. I told you exactly where it came from. And when I told you where, you said you didn't want to go through the trouble. So, do it yourself. That's how we get our stuff.

Well, that doesn't help me at all. It fails to answer my question and it also fails because there is a lack of a question to ask Snake.

The question here is the same, any ideas where to get that?

I've had that for ages, you've known that. In fact, I was the one who informed you that there WAS a program called "BitTorrent." Before that, you thought it was just a name for torrent files.

I was asking for a site, or maybe a link if that's not asking too much.

Hey, Snake. Do you know anyone that wants one or two free gunipigs (sp?)? See my uncles friend has two gunipigs and she has to get rid of them because of the hours of her new job and she's just giving them away for free so do you know anyone that might be interrested in getting one?

Here's something that's been bothering me, Snake.

We all know by now that Solid Snake will be in the new Super Smash Bros.: Brawl.

It is also a well-known fact that Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom did not do the voices for their characters in the Pirates of the Carribean part of Kingdom Hearts 2 because they were booked with the filming of the new PotC movie.

I'm worried that David Hayter will be too busy with X-Men or Lupin the 3rd or whatever other acting he's doing to return as Solid Snake for the new SSB. I haven't heard of him actually directing any movies as of late (as far as I know, he's also directed a few movies), but still, I'd hate to have anyone other than Hayter do the voice for Snake.

What are your thoughts?

As long as there is Solid Snake, David Hayter will be the voice. Why?

A) David himself has said that he LOVES to do the role, and will do it as long as they want him to.

B) Fans would be in such and uproar that it would be ridiculous. In North America, David Hayter IS Solid Snake.

C) Seriously, who could replace him?

And sorry Jena, I don't know of anyone who would want any guinipigs.
