Just a question, but what exactly do you do on your desktop before it crashes?
Don't take that question the wrong way, I'm asking because I might be able to help. I'm an intern with the Blount County Schools Central Office Tech Department (I'm mostly a hardware technician, but I've done an equal amount of software work). I've used Windows 98, 2000 Pro, and XP EXTENSIVELY over the past several months, and I usually get the most errors from 98/2000. Come to think of it, I've never had XP crash or lock up while I'm working on it in the entire time I've been there. It may be a simple driver conflict, or it could be something much worse.

then i would consider you one of the lucky ones then snake well, when my desktop died in may it was well my fault because i was looking at some naughty material and well lets just say that i got what was coming to me the main things i moan and groan about with xp is how it always loves to lock up and stuff forcing me to open the task manager and end whatever task that i was running, and some other general stuff like that. now for me i've never seen an OS which has suffered as many and as often "brainfarts" as xp so yeah i get plenty of headaches with it well vista comes out next year, and maybe i'll put it on my laptop and it won't be as stressful as xp. i really hate its "simpler/more confusing look" now i'm fairly literate with computers, but not as literate as you are snake, and i'm willing to admit that i'm not a very patient man (one of my many mental problems) and i tend to get carried away, but i never had these issues as often with 98/2000. the only other operating system that gave me as much trouble was windows ME.
