Shiny took another shot at making a good Matrix game. I'm going to do a short review since I don't think it's worthy of a full fledged one like the Horror titles we've been doing.
The main focus in The Matrix: Path of Neo is to play as Neo....the way YOU want to.
At the end of the movies, Neo dies. This may not be so depending on how you play. You must make choices as you play that change the story.
For example, in the first level, Thomas Anderson has to escape from his office and get to the roof and then out of the building. If you are captured by an Agent like Smith or one of his fellow Agents, you will be given the choice of continuing from the last checkpoint, or accepting your capture, which will lead the story in the dierection the movie originally went. Or you may make it to the roof, where you then have to go to the first floor and hop on Trinity's bike and meet Morpeus and ultimately, the real world.
The first real choice though, I made for myself. Morpheus gives his famous monologue...
"You take the blue pill, and the story ends. You wake up in your own bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill...you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes."
I reached for the red pill...and was immediateley reminded of "Enter the Matrix". I really didn't want to have a repeat of that game...plus, the last time I took a red pill from a black guy in a leather jacket, some really f***** up s*** happened.....so I wholfed down the blue pill.
Morpeus wasn't too pleased. "Perhaps I was wrong about you, Neo. I'm sorry you won't be joining us."
I woke up in front of my computer and the game ended.
I was glad I made the right choice. If I was Neo, that's what I would have done, and The Matrix: Path of Neo gives you the opportunity to do so. That's the end of my review!
Ok, really, that did happen, but about an hour later, I played again and took the red pill, and by God, I was right. It's the same as "Enter the Matrix" except a lot less glitchy and with Neo. I did encounter a few of the similar glitches (repeating speech, etc. etc.), but I'm sure Shiny would be like "Oh, that...well....er.....GLITCHES IN THE MATRIX! Yeah, that's it...."
I did enjoy having the freedom of making my own path, though. If you're a Matrix fan, give this a try. If not, take the blue pill. Technically, that's an ending. And that's where the original Matrix movie should have ended.
